Ingredients for sub 1 pouch of sliced Levitts Montreal-style smoked meat
1 submarine bread
2 slices of cheese of your choice
120 ml of shredded lettuce (romaine, iceberg, arugula)
30 ml of diced fresh tomatoes
45 ml of seasoned mayonnaise* (or more if desired)
Seasoned mayonnaise: 60 ml mayonnaise 30 ml ketchup 5 ml dry oregano 5 ml wine vinegar or dill pickle juice 3 pinches of black pepper ¼ tsp onion powder 1/8 tsp garlic powder Few drops of hot sauce, if desired
Prepare mayonnaise by mixing its ingredients altogether.
Warm the smoked meat pouch following the instructions on the package, and lightly grill the submarine bread, open.
Once the bread is warm, spread your mayonnaise on both parts, put the cheese and spread the sliced meat on top. Careful, it’s hot. You can put the bread in the oven for a few seconds to make the cheese melt, if desired.
Get the garnished bread out and spread the rest of the mayonnaise, the lettuce and the diced tomatoes.
Sprinkle with pepper, oregano and hot pepper flakes, if desired. Close the bread and serve.
